About Cove & Compass
Elevated Stays. Expertly Curated
What We Are
A hospitality partner, not just a property manager.
Cove & Compass is a short-term rental hospitality, design, and property management company rooted in one simple idea: exceptional guest experiences drive exceptional performance.
We partner with property owners, investors, and local businesses to transform homes into high-performing, experience-driven destinations — while contributing to the long-term success, growth, and health of the local community.
Our Mission
Five-star stays. Repeat visits. Real returns.
To create guest experiences that deliver consistent 5-star stays, exceed expectations, and drive repeat visitation to our beautiful destination — generating meaningful returns for property owners, partners, business owners, and the community.
Our Vision
Lake Anna's most trusted hospitality partner.
To be known not just for the properties we operate, but for the experiences we create, the standards we uphold for cleanliness and operational effectiveness, and the relationships we build.
Why We Do What We Do
Creating experiences people want to come back to.
We are deeply passionate about one thing: creating experiences that people want to return to. Not just once — but again and again. Because when guests have an exceptional stay and make meaningful memories, they don't just return to one property. They return to Lake Anna.
That benefits everyone: property owners, local businesses, and the broader community. It's the foundation everything we do is built on.
Meet the Founder
Martina Hansen
Founder — Cove & Compass Co.
Cove & Compass was built on a foundation that started long before real estate. Growing up in Minnesota, time at the lake wasn't just a summer activity — it was where life happened every day and every season. Where memories were made, where friends and family gathered, and where simple moments became lasting ones.
Before building Cove & Compass, Martina spent her career as a senior executive in higher education, leading large-scale operations focused on customer experience, digital strategy, and retention — producing record-setting performance across the nation's largest institutions.
When she entered the short-term rental space, she saw a clear opportunity: most properties were competing on price or location. Very few were competing on value and experience. So she applied the same principles — and built one of the top-performing short-term rentals at Lake Anna.
- Developed Lake Anna's #1 performing short-term rental within 18 months
- Sold for 2× purchase price, setting a private-side record sale in 2026
- Decades of enterprise customer experience and digital strategy leadership
- Founded The Host Method — a framework for profit-first STR operators
